1. Katy Texas Residence by Mike Doherty Homes of Houston, Texas. Some details - 7000sf, unusual crawl space foundation built over post tension slab with built in slope for drainage. Stone veneer, stained concrete over elevated wood framing for front, rear, and side porches. Vaulted ceilings with exposed cedar timber trusses throughout.

Additional views and construction detail photos...

2. Houston Heights Residence by Decorum Homes - A beautiful modern 'ShotGun Craftsman' for growing families. Height's historical style with modern amenities. A unique design connects a crawl space foundation with a drive through porte cache supported by clad steel columns to a rear detached garage. The first floor hardwood floor shotguns to the rear kitchen and entertainment room.  The second floor living spaces flow to a master bedroom with a veranda style front porch.

3. Austin USGBC LEED* Platinum Residence designed by Laverne Williams. This home first floor walls were Autoclave Aerated Concrete blocks. The second floor was 2x6 wood framing with spray foam insulation. Accents of Juniper columns, Cedar beams and ceilings, and factory cedar stained Hardie siding on the second floor make this project a memorable success.  We are now engineering our fifth *US Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) project for Texas.(More photos to follow).

4. Central Houston Contemporary Town House Project

This was designed by a local and renowned contemporary residential and commercial designer Chris Robertson. A Clean, Classy, Open floor plan that clearly stands out from the area's craftman row houses.

5. AAC Block House "Block House"

Its high noon in the old wild west (of east Houston), but you are cool, calm, and protected in your Autoclave Aerated Concrete block house. The bad guys are behaving extra nice today as they slowly mossey on by,...keepin' an eye on that roof top for a pop-up deputy rifleman...

Sorry, I got carried away. In sepia finish this March 2008 photo just reminds me of the wild west. But it also clearly shows what a dedicated owner-builder on a limited budget can do by himself with one helper. This solidly built low income spec home is now being finshed on an east Houston street in a transitional neighboorhood. The low income home is constructed from the latest space age autoclaved aerated concrete building system. It is an energy efficient and fire/flood/mold resistant home. It provides a compact, comfortable and affordable 3 bedroom / 2 bath with front and rear porches, and rear balcony.

Wait, what's this?... Is that Doc's Delorean visiting from "Back to the Future"?

The contemporary "StormHaus" concrete home finally nears completion.

The SCIP (structural concrete insulatedpanel) 120 MPH wind resistant home designed in 2005 by Eco-Holdings has become a residential reality.

It has been a challenge for many reasons. But the bottom line is that the first contemporary "StormHaus" design is now nearing completion of construction.

The perseverance of the owners and ECO as their design and engineering team has led to a 2000 sf contemporary open concept storm resistant concrete home that is currently at $72 per square foot + owner labor. The estimated finish price is between $85 and $90/sf.
