Did you here the one about the caveman named Etak? Etak ran under a bent tree branch that he then noticed kept the rain off of him. Etak said ugah ... this is Etak's idea. Then Etak thought that if both ends went into the ground it would not move so much in the wind...and whalah, Etak invented the arch. Etak was very proud if his tree modification idea, so he copyrighted it as his very own design, calling it 'Arch-Etak'. (then he asked his young engineer to test it.)
Our premise is that there is no original design. Every 'new' architectural design is built upon one or more earlier designs or concepts. The key is the ability to visualize alternatives, have the experience to decide if the alternatives are practical, and then have the ability to define the details. When we see the creativity of others, we feel like a that caveman. Here are some likeable designs.
