On February 21st 2007, ECO held our first green home design introduction class. This class was called “Green Home Building – An Engineer’s Check List” and was presented in a 75 seat class room in Magnolia.  As of September 1st 2007, ECO has presented three additional smaller green home introduction classes at our central Houston office near Reliant stadium. Contact us to be put on our list of invitees for future class announcements

These classes are targeted towards builders, individuals, and designers planning to design or build a home, who are also interested or curious about green home building practices.

"GREEN 101" FOR FUTURE GREEN HOME OWNERS
Each free Green Home Introduction class has about a dozen people and is held at our office conference room. The class is typically scheduled on a Thursday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm with 'Whole Foods' pizza and soft drinks provided.

The class starts with an engineer’s green home overview presentation and then switches to an informal discussion based around our own ‘An Engineer’s Green Home Check List’ hand out. Our presentation is the same as was presented at the 2007 G. Brown Center Houston Home Show. It covers the current real world status of green home building development and practices, and the basics of today's green building structural and energy systems. Part of our presentation is a focus on the need to make early design decisions on structural and energy system choices.

Discussion of programs like USGBC-LEED and the pending ICC/NAHB National Green Home Standard specification is covered and time allowance is then made for Q & A and discussions on any green building topic. These are free classes but due to limited seating we required  that your RSVP be provided by email or phone.
